Cowan-Turner Program in Servant Leadership spacer
spacer

ILE's Cowan-Turner Program in Servant Leadership invites applications for Bradley-Turner funds from students seeking co-curricular experiences consistent with increasing capacity for servant leadership.

The primary purpose of the Bradley-Turner Servant Leadership funds is to expand the practice and understanding of servant leadership.  While community service and volunteer efforts are important to this process, the critical focus of servant leadership is to enhance the capacity of institutions to better serve the needs of their constituents. Proposals for funding must demonstrate that the projects address this point and/or provide an opportunity for participants to develop the skills and capacities necessary for this purpose.  A secondary purpose of this fund is to create opportunities to increase the awareness, understanding, and practice of servant leadership within the Georgia Tech community.

Application Checklist:
  • Application letter (no more than two pages)
  • Budget break down
  • Faculty recommendation letter
The criteria for Bradley-Turner funds should be thoroughly reviewed before writing a proposal. The application letter should also include the budget for the program/activity that funds are requested for. A recommendation letter from a faculty advisor is strongly recommended.

Applications will be reviewed according to the following deadlines (and as long as funds remain):
September 5, 2008 (for Fall 2008 projects)
November 7, 2008 (for winter break and early Spring 2009 projects)
January 16, 2009 (for Spring 2009 projects)
April 30, 2009 (for Summer 2009 projects)

Submit your application packet here

Students are encouraged to apply well in advance of when they will need the funds, and could apply for activities a full year before the funding is needed.

All proposals will be assessed in terms of SMART:  Specific, Measurable, Attainable and Time oriented.

Recipients can be students, student organizations, or others who will provide co-curricula programs and/or experiences for students.

Recipients will be expected to provide a summary of the projects/activities the funds were used for after the event or process is completed.

Amounts of awards vary between $100 and $5,000 based on the decision of the selection committee in response to submitted proposals.
